LED RETROFITTING

LED Retrofitting

More Than “Going Green”

Since lighting accounts for about 15 to 20% of a typical commercial building’s energy use, how a building is lighted is an important consideration. Sustainable building practices, such as retrofitting with LED lighting not only reduces the power usage of a building but pays for itself in a very short period of time making it a good choice if there is only budget for one building upgrade at a time.

Lamp Replacement – The simplest form of retrofitting is Lamp Replacement. A quick swap should be possible because LEDs don’t require a separate ballast like their fluorescent counterpart. Some LEDs may not be approved for enclosed spaces – let us help you make sure you’re choosing the right product for your needs

Retrofit Kits –An LED retrofit kit allows the building to keep its current fixtures but reap the benefits of LED bulbs. Some rewiring may be required.

Replacing Fixtures –Replacing the entire fixture with an LED fixture is an option if the existing lighting system is old or of poor quality. Keating Electric can help you choose the proper fixtures for the space as well as install them.

High Bay vs. Low Bay –For warehouse and industrial spaces high bay and low bay lights can be replaced with LED to achieve greater output at a lower cost.

LIGHTING CONTROLS

Incorporating lighting controls into your LED retrofit gives a building the ability to increase energy efficiency further by providing the right amount of light when and where it’s needed. A simple as a timer that turns lights on or off at pre-set times is one option. More advanced devices, like occupancy sensors that automatically turn on lights when motion is detected are popular. And photocells will adjust lighting levels depending on the amount of available daylight. Let Keating Electric help you choose.
